This week, @V21Church Band Leaders @JoshBain and @ThadCockrell are attending the Worship God Conference in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This conference is put on by Sovereign Grace Ministries, the worship portion of which is led by Bob Kauflin. His book Worship Matters is a required reading for all Vintage21 Church Band Leaders – I’ve found no other book that contains the practical side of leading corporate worship grounded by such solid theology. In addition to teaching by Bob Kauflin (pictured here), there will be sessions led by Dr. John Piper, C.J. Mahaney, and workshops led by talented songwriters and worship leaders. My participation in this trip was cancelled due to caring for my family in a difficult time, but I’m thankful for their desire to serve our church and attend. We are blessed with band leaders at Vintage21 Church who desire to honor and love Jesus but also really care for the congregation. Please pray for them, that their knowledge of and love for God would be deepened, their understanding of worship would be stretched and challenged, and also that they would rest, laugh and be encouraged.
In addition, they were able to catch the Elbow show at the 9:30 Club in D.C. last night. The picture below was taken by @JoshBain, and from all accounts the show was amazing. If you’ve never heard this band, I highly recommend checking them out – they are masters of arrangements, and their instrumentation and tone is near perfect. For those of you here in Raleigh who are going to the Coldplay concert tomorrow night, Elbow is opening – don’t miss it!
