The Latest

My apologies for the radio silence on worship.vintage21.com (what is the equivalent term for a lack of posting?). Last week the elders of @V21Church, along with our families, went on a retreat. It was a restful time to connect, eat amazing gnocchi by Pastor @TaylorRobertsOK, and keep a constant fire going in the fireplace, even when it was 70 degrees outside. We also dreamed together, and I’m currently updating plans for the direction of the Sunday service, music, and worship of @V21Church.

Meanwhile, Christin could have our second little girl any day now, which will mean I’m away from work and subsequently this site for two weeks. Before we rush off to the hospital, I wanted to update everyone on upcoming events and happenings.

Advance 09
This is the most exciting event I’ve had the chance to be a part of. What began as a conference idea in the mind of @PastorTyler Jones has elevated into an amazing event that will educate, inspire and convict the hearts of thousands. A band from @V21Church will be leading worship on Friday, and just the thought of being a part of thousands of voices lifting up the name of Jesus has me wishing it were tomorrow. In addition, a band from Sojourn Church in Louisville, Kentucky will be leading on Thursday and Saturday. Their album “Before The Throne” is a favorite here in the Vintage21 office, and their website is a regular read.

Advance 09: Friday Night
Without divulging too much, I want to encourage everyone to keep Friday night open for a special free event. Mark that date, and stay tuned for more details.

Durham
This past weekend I visited the Durham campus of @V21Church for the debut of Matt Moorman’s bluegrass band. It was a beautiful and encouraging morning of baby dedications, worship, and a great vibe. The people there are laboring to love the city and honor God, and it’s paying off. With the leadership of Site Pastor Will Plitt, the rotation of Matt’s band and Brandon’s band, that campus has a beautiful thing going on.

Raleigh
We’re now rotating three bands at the Raleigh campus – Mike and Josh’s band, Thad’s, and the one I lead. The band model continually proves itself as the best scenario for V21, as the bands grow tighter, lead well and the music continually provides a worthy foundation for praising God. After meeting with band leaders this past Sunday, I am encouraged by their humility, desire for constructive criticism and commitment to Jesus Christ. We are blessed to have these men over these bands.

Maundy Thursday
The Maundy Thursday service has become a V21 tradition that I look forward to each year. It holds something different every time, although the focus always includes the cross of Christ and his invitation of communion. This year was the most clearly focused and well executed, in my opinion. To see pictures, visit our facebook page. While you’re there, become a fan!

On a personal note, I am thankful for many things, and energized by all that I’ve written about. The musicians at Vintage21 Church humbly serve and seek God, my wife is about to give birth to our second daughter any day now, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ is resulting in freedom from sin in hundreds of lives around me.

Thank you, Jesus.
