While this site usually deals with the worship of God by @V21Church, today’s post is a little different. I got a new guitar, and I’m so excited that I wanted to post a picture. It kind of deals with worship, since I’ll be using it to lead others in worship through song. But let’s call a spade a spade- I’m just very excited, so I’m posting a picture. But equipment – amps, guitars, and especially pedals – are all very interesting to me. Maybe someday we’ll have a section on gear used by musicians in Vintage21 bands, complete with pictures. Then again, that’s probably only interesting to a handful of people, so maybe not.
Last night I went to see the Bright Young Things and Max Indian play at Tir Na Nog, which was a fantastic show – both bands are right up my rock-and-roll alley. It was great to hang out with members of the band I lead at Vintage, as well as V21 band leaders, musicians from around town, and other people I don’t get to see often. As I hung out and observed all that was going on, this had me thinking about the interaction of Christ followers with the world around them. For years now I’ve wondered how exactly to simply live. We’re supposed to honor Christ, but this plays out in different ways for everyone, and changes through seasons of life. There were times, especially during a particularly legalistic phase in college, where I struggled with living Jesus out in the open (to use one of @PastorTyler’s familiar phrases), and for a while it resulted in only hanging out with Christians. Then I read the Bible and realized this was not what God calls us to, nor what he himself practiced while walking among us during Jesus’ life. However, it’s still something on my mind, as I want to love and honor God and point people to Him. All in all, I think we’re doing a decent job – the people of @V21Church, that is – in that we’re trying. We love and support the city, taking part in life and asking that God bless it. I’m proud to be a part of this church.
Awesome guitar! I was looking to buy a Fender Squire Affinity. For around 200 bucks its a great guitar with a nice tone. In fact, I was reading some reviews where some guitarists preferred the Affinity over some of the higher priced telecasters.
Also, great comments on living out the life of Christ everyday. Its hard to sometimes put our own thoughts, intelligence, and feelings on the back burner and just rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us. Its a constant battle, but thank God the victory is already won.
