Today’s “Sunday Review” is written by Josh Bain. He and Mike Simons will be co-leading a band, and yesterday was a glimpse of that. These two men are talented, love Jesus, and have a great vision for leading people to worship Him.

O Come All Ye Faithful
Words and Music by John F. Wade, 1743

As we enter into another Christmas season, it is only natural to revive the seasonal carols and if left to me we would sing Christmas carols all year. I just love them. This song in particular is simply beautiful when sung with large crowds, almost as an anthem. “O come let us adore Him!” A body of believers declaring their adoration for the King of Kings.

Come Thou Fount
Words by Robert Robinson
Arrangement by Mike Simons and Josh Bain

“Jesus sought me when a stranger, wondering from the fold of God.  He to rescue me from danger interposed His precious blood.” This song and especially this lyric speak volumes. It never ceases to amaze me how blind the love of God is, in that He seeks us even when we are not consciously seeking Him. I look back on my own life and in the times I did not know Him or was turning a blind eye to His will and yet He still sought after me and was guiding my paths.

Sermon: Ecclesiastes 11:1-10
Most of people are not by nature risk-takers; we wait for the ideal situations before making any large decision. Our thought process is that the future holds an ideal time for everything. That somehow, our lives will get less busy and less hectic. We have failed to learn from our experience that life seems to grow more hectic, more complicated, and demand even more. This week, Pastor Will Plitt teaches from Ecclesiastes 11 on being content in who Jesus is and what he has done.

The Wondrous Cross
Words by Isaac Watts, Jesse Reeves, J.D. Walt and Chris Tomlin

There is not a more beautiful picture than the Cross. It represents unconditional love, hope, freedom and so much more. Where God’s divinity and our depravity collide and hope is born. “But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Galatians 6:14.

When You Are Not Enough
Words and Music by Thad Cockrell and Matt Stevens

This song is just simply beautiful and it has been a prayer in my own heart. There are so many times in my life in which my actions are saying that God is not enough and when that happens true joy cannot be found. When we surrender to God our hopes, dreams and ambitions trusting that He will provide and bring to light a joy that cannot be attained without God.

Chainbreaker
Words by Charlie Hall
Music by Kendall Combes, Dustin Ragland, Brian Bergman, Quint Anderson

My favorite part in this song is when we sing “we are free, we are free. The Son has set us free. Drop your chains, sons and daughters. Come and run in liberty.”  In previous songs today, we give our adoration to God, revel in is unconditional love, take hope in the beauty of the cross and ask him to break our hearts. We then celebrate the freedom He has given us. We drop our chains and chase after Him, the one who set us free.  ”For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”  Galatians 5:1
