Band Vision: Seth Hall

First let me say that I feel truly humbled and blessed to have music in my life as a gift and passion from our Father God Almighty. I consider it a great blessing and responsibility to live out that gift through worshiping and bringing glory to the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I believe that we were created in the image of a creative God, and as creative individuals we are called to use our time, talents and gifts each day to build His kingdom. What a great honor that is!!! Praise the Lord!!
In leading worship at @V21Church, I desire several things. First, to bring Glory to the name of Jesus Christ through prayer, scripture, and song. Second, to lead the body of the church in uninhibited praise and third, to build community within the band by praying together, walking through life together and creating wonderful emotional music together, all filled with and fueled by the Holy Spirit. After all, the Holy Spirit is the true leader of this worship band and my prayer is that He will guide the music and move us as a church in such a way that we will let everything go and worship our savior Jesus Christ without fear. That we will cry, laugh, raise our hands, dance, do flips down the aisle, whatever the Holy Spirit leads us to do. Music is intensely powerful by itself, but with the presence of the Holy Spirit, it is even more so.

Bands and Styles in Mind

Basically anything from Motown Records, old school soul, R/B, gospel. I want to mix this with elements of melodic Pop and Americana…simple, singable melodies filled with emotion, energy and groove.

Instruments

Drums – soul, Motown, gospel, with hints of rock and pop
Bass – emotional melodic grooves (James Jamerson of Motown and Donald “Duck” Dunn of Stax )
Keys – rhythmic and driving Wurlitzer electric piano with sparse melodic runs/lines, some songs may call for simple, melodic Hammond Organ underneath.
Electric Guitar – (Lead) simple, tasteful riffs of soul, (Rhythm) energetic often sparse chords, driving riffs (Steve “The Colonel” Cropper of Stax and every other great song)
Backing Vocals – energetic stage presence, gospel, soul, Motown, hands clapping and lifted in praise to Jesus Christ, Lead Vocals for certain songs.
Here’s an upbeat, high energy example
I believe this is a good starting point and with the musicians and our individual strengths in place, it will draw from a mix of styles and morph into something all it’s own. I look forward to seeing how the Holy Spirit moves during this process.
Thank you for your time and please share any comments or suggestions.
In Christ alone,
Seth
